Sudbury Chamber of Commerce 2026 - 4th of July Parade

Sudbury Chamber of Commerce 2026 - 4th of July Parade

Sudbury is, and has always been, a unique community. It is believed that in 1775, Sudbury sent more soldiers into battle than any of our surrounding communities.

A Sudbury woman from the period offers us a rare perspective. Experience Richardson (1705-1786) wrote in her diary on April 19, 1775: “This day our men are alarmed to go down to Concord to fight with the army that has come to take our stores. There, not only minutemen, but almost all took up their arms and marched there, and a dreadful fight they had, and drove them back again, and killed a great many of them, but how many we cannot tell, and some of our men were killed. It is said about forty in all and two that belong to this part of town.” *

As we commemorate our country’s 250 years of independence this year we, the present-day citizens have an opportunity to shine light on our town as our forebearers did by celebrating their courage, innovation and commitment to their community and to each other.  The Sudbury 250 Committee has created many wonderful opportunities for us to learn and gather for these commemorations.

The climax of these commemorations will be July 4, 2026, when the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, with the support of many businesses in town, the Town of Sudbury and our Parade Committee of dedicated volunteers will sponsor and produce the annual 4th of July Parade, as it has for more than 30 years.

This beloved tradition for Sudbury, and the surrounding communities is expected to draw many visitors from around the country and the world. Ours is the only 4th of July Parade in greater MetroWest. We need to rally our town to help us produce a blockbuster parade for this important milestone celebration.

To do this we need your help.

  • Project managers, event coordinators & day-of volunteers: We need to expand our Parade Committee for this year’s 250 anniversary and for years to come.

  • Sponsors: We are looking for businesses, neighborhoods, groups of all kinds to provide financial sponsorship for increased parade expenses as we plan to bring in bigger bands and parade acts.

  • Communications: Help us get our message out and keep Sudbury and surrounding communities informed about the parade and support opportunities through your newsletters, social media, meeting updates and other communications.

  • Floats & marchers: Always welcome are the creative floats presented by businesses and groups in the area. Great visibility for businesses, interest groups, performers, clubs.
